ABOUT David Mercer

David Mercer grew up in Midland Texas and became a Church of Christ preacher, like his father.  He then went on to work for an interdenominational congregation and then for the Independent Christian Churches. In 2000, he transferred to the United Methodist Conference in Oklahoma.

In 2016, David left his job as a pastor, declared his atheism, and moved to Orlando where he married Sylvia. In addition to the Central FloridaFreethought Community blog on this site, David writes his own blogs, Deep Calls and Quick Drawl. He is also a contributing writer for Rational Doubt.
